  • Washington State Affordable Housing Advisory BoardPaul Purcell was appointed by Governor Gregoire to serve on this statewide Board to advise the governor and the Department of Commerce on state policies that impact housing affordability throughout Washington.

  • Policy Advisory TeamPaul Purcell is Chair of this committee convened by the Department of Commerce to advise the department on the effective utilization of the Housing Trust Fund.

  • Housing Development Consortium of Seattle / King County (HDC)Paul Purcell is a member of the Board of this Seattle/King County organization dedicated to promoting and facilitating affordable housing within Seattle and King County.

  • Capitol Hill Housing is a Seattle non-profit whose mission is to meet the need for affordable housing and preserve neighborhood character. Beacon Development Director Brian Lloyd serves on the Executive Committee and as the chair of the Property Development Committee.

A Vision Fulfilled

Since 1999, Beacon has developed 2,504 units of affordable housing in 63 projects located in 30 cities throughout Washington State at a budget of $437 million.

Beacon Development Group participates in Advocacy Day
Out of Reach Report:
The National Low Income Housing Coalition released the 2011 Out of Reach report.  This annual report  calculates the Housing Wage: the amount a person working full-time must earn to afford the Fair Market Rent on a modest two-bedroom unit. Out of Reach also calculates the number of hours one must work at the minimum wage and the average renter wage in order to afford typical rents. The Housing Wage for Washington State is $19.10 - while the typical renter wage is just $13.96.  As this report details, housing is out of each for many in our state.  To read the full report, click here.

Beacon Development Group works with Catholic Charities of Eastern WA
Funding Awarded: 
Beacon Development Group will be working with Catholic Charities Housing Services of Eastern WA to build a 50-unit complex in downtown Spokane.  The project will serve the chronically homeless and extremely low income people receiving state disability.  To learn more about this project click here
