John Agnew John brings a breadth of business and management experience to his role on the Beacon Board of Directors. This includes technical and human capital planning and management in several high tech sectors as well as start-ups, small businesses, and non-profits. John has served as the General Manager of Operations for the Microsoft Network and the Executive Director for Information Resources, Human Resources, and Quality Assurance for US West Cellular. He served on the faculty of the Executive Leadership Program at Seattle University, and recently rehabilitated a retired military facility in Moses Lake, WA, creating a large internet data center facility. John currently provides executive consulting services to a variety of groups. He also serves as the President of the Board of Directors for Upper Valley MEND (Meeting Every Need with Dignity) and SHARE Community Land Trust in Leavenworth, WA.John holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University, with a major in the Design and Evaluation of Educational Programs, and a minor in Computer Science and Business. |
Jim Chamberlin Jim Chamberlin brings a strong business and finance background to his role on the Beacon Board of Directors. He currently serves Implement.com Corporation as its Vice President of Finance and Administration. With more than 20 years of business experience, he has served organizations in various capacities including controller, chief financial officer, chief operations officer, president, and as a member of the Board of Directors. The focus of Jim's work has been on the growth and development of small businesses. These businesses have matured within varied strategic goals, including the sale to a Fortune 100 company, significant growth within a closely held company, and an initial public offering (IPO) on the NASDAQ stock market.Jim is a founding member and former treasurer of The Business Roundtable. |
Dahe Good Dahe Good brings a strong background in housing development to her role on Beacon's Board of Directors. Dahe is the owner and lead consultant for GoodJames Consulting in Oregon where she provides complete development services to non-profit and for-profit developers, including financial analysis, acquisition and program design, negotiating and closing financing, and equity investment. Her previous roles include the Vice President of Acquisitions for a Portland tax credit syndicator, Underwriter with the Portland Development Commission, Manager of Housing Development for the Seattle of Seattle Office of Housing, and Development Manager for a Seattle non-profit. Dahe holds an MAI appraiser designation and has over 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, with a specialty in affordable housing and community development. She is currently Vice-Chair of Community Capital Development, Inc., a non-profit focusing on wealth development for low-income individuals and households. |
Barbara Guzzo Barbara comes to Beacon with over 20 years of leadership experience in non-profit, for-profit, and educational organizations. Barbara has served four years as the Executive Director of a non-profit training company, operated her own business, and worked twelve years as the client services and training director of a national non-profit educational organization. She has worked extensively in the areas of client relations, workshop development and delivery, staff supervision and support, leadership development, and team building. In her role at Beacon, Barbara works with the Board of Directors, President, and Leadership Team to create, implement, and evaluate structures, systems, and processes to promote the organizational effectiveness of Beacon Development Group and develop the skills and expertise of its employees. |
Paul Purcell Paul began work in housing in 1986 as Vice President of Finance and Administration for Catholic Community Services of Western Washington. He became responsible for financing tax credit and other housing development for the Archdiocesan Housing Authority (AHA). He left AHA to begin Beacon Development Group. During the past 20 years, Paul has developed over $300 million of housing, office, and mixed-use developments. Paul received the Washington State Housing Finance Commission Friend of Housing Award 2004 in recognition of his "dedication and commitment to affordable housing." Paul has served on the Governor's Task Force on Financing Senior Housing, the Joint Committee on Farm Worker Housing, and the Policy Advisory Team for Housing. Currently, he is a member of the Housing Development Consortium Board of Directors. In April 2005 Paul was appointed by Governor Gregoire to the Office of Governor's Affordable Housing Advisory Board. Paul holds a Master in Public Administration from Seattle University. |
Alice Shobe Alice Shobe brings over 20 years of experience in housing, philanthropy, and community development to her role on Beacon's Board of Directors. She currently serves as the Deputy Director of Building Changes, an organization committed to ending homelessness through consulting, grantmaking, technical assistance, advocacy and evaluation. In her role she leads Building Changes' strategic business planning efforts and supports the Executive Director in all executive functions including board management and fiscal oversight. Her prior positions include: Director of Sound Families, CEO of Philanthropy Northwest, and Executive Director of the Washington Community Development Loan Fund. Alice began her career as a City Planner with A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH) and the City of Kent, WA. Alice holds a B.A. in Urban Policy from James Madison College of Michigan State University. |
