Project Description:

The building is a two story structure with full basement, a total of 4,172 square feet.  The residential floors are each configured with six bedrooms, two baths, common kitchen/dining/living areas and a sunroom/clean room for staff.  The building has a three-stop elevator and storage/laundry/utility facilities in the basement.

Population/Residents Served:

This project provides 12 units of housing and 24-hour care for low-income tenants suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia.  The project is located in the Columbia City neighborhood next door to ElderHealth’s South Branch adult day center.  The project is fully handicapped accessible.   Nine of the units serve tenants with incomes of up to 30% of the area median income (AMI) and 3 units up to 50% of AMI.  Operating revenue for care, services and housing are provided for qualified tenants through the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) and Providence Hospital’s Program for All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE).

Beacon Development Group participates in Advocacy Day
Out of Reach Report:
The National Low Income Housing Coalition released the 2011 Out of Reach report.  This annual report  calculates the Housing Wage: the amount a person working full-time must earn to afford the Fair Market Rent on a modest two-bedroom unit. Out of Reach also calculates the number of hours one must work at the minimum wage and the average renter wage in order to afford typical rents. The Housing Wage for Washington State is $19.10 - while the typical renter wage is just $13.96.  As this report details, housing is out of each for many in our state.  To read the full report, click here.

Beacon Development Group works with Catholic Charities of Eastern WA
Funding Awarded: 
Beacon Development Group will be working with Catholic Charities Housing Services of Eastern WA to build a 50-unit complex in downtown Spokane.  The project will serve the chronically homeless and extremely low income people receiving state disability.  To learn more about this project click here
