Out of Reach Report: The National Low Income Housing Coalition released the 2011 Out of Reach report. This annual report calculates the Housing Wage: the amount a person working full-time must earn to afford the Fair Market Rent on a modest two-bedroom unit. Out of Reach also calculates the number of hours one must work at the minimum wage and the average renter wage in order to afford typical rents. The Housing Wage for Washington State is $19.10 - while the typical renter wage is just $13.96. As this report details, housing is out of each for many in our state.
