Firwood Group Home & 110th St. Place
A group home in Seattle, WA, designed to serve low-income individuals with mental or non-traditional physical disabilities.

Group Home for low-income persons with mental disabilities by Beacon Development Group

Project Description:
This residential facility combines the rehabilitation of a one-story SRO (single-room occupancy) building (Firwood Group Home) with the new construction of a craftsman style residence (110th Street Place). The exterior appearance of the new group residence is designed to complement the architecture of the surrounding single-family housing and blend into the residential neighborhood. Firwood Group Home contains 20 bedrooms that are laid out in clusters of three to five rooms on short corridors to create a sense of community among the residents. 110th Street Place provides 8 bedrooms and incorporates several craftsman style details such as oversized pilasters and posts, a large front porch, and bay windows. Special consideration was given to the interior layout to provide both a sense of privacy for the residents as well as to create shared living spaces to promote easy interaction.

Residents Served: Firwood Group Home and 110th Street Place serves persons with mental or non-traditional physical disabilities who can benefit from living in a community environment. All are at incomes at or below 30% of median income. Community House Mental Health Agency provides on-site property management, case management, and 24-hour emergency response teams to deal with crisis situations.
