Laurel Village
New construction of 50 units of “village style” housing for low-income families located in Bellingham, WA. Location and design take advantage of nearby park trails and views of Bellingham Bay.

Laurel Village new construction by Beacon Development Group
Project Description: Laurel Village provides a comfortable neighborhood-style community for 50 very low-income households (30%-50% AMI). The mixed-use development includes 24 one-bedroom, 15 two-bedroom, and 11 three-bedroom units. Ten of the units are targeted for disabled households, and ten are targeted to formerly homeless households. The development consists of three separate buildings, two of which have two and three stories and one with a larger four-story building. The development also includes large courtyards, a community room and activity room. The design and construction of the buildings provide long-term sustainability and utility savings for residents.

Residents Served: The community consists of approximately 135 residents and is largely made up of families that attend school, work, or other activities in the downtown area. All earn between 30% and 50% of area median income. Families transitioning from homelessness are provided services through Lydia Place Supportive Services Program, and residents with disabilities receive case management through Whatcom County Psychiatric Counseling.
